Community Engagement Project in partnership with the Pro Mazahua Association. Collaborated closely with an Otomi community revealing a crucial insight: the artisans' quality of life is intricately tied to their craftsmanship process, not just the final product.
To address this, the wheat straw cleaning process was enhanced with an easy replicable prototype machine. The solution also incorporated a bag design aligned with the artisans' traditions that combined contemporary elements inspired by current fashion trends for them to sell and increase product sales.
Process: wheat straw chains

Process: testing with community members

Process: artisans working

Process: wheat being removed from the straw
